Preserving the Art of Timber Framing
The Canadian School of Timber Framing in Perth, Ontario, offers hands-on training in traditional timber framing techniques. Founded by renowned timber framer Jason Gibson, our programs are designed to teach essential skills such as mortise and tenon joinery, handling heavy timbers, and safely using both hand and power tools. Participants work from technical drawings, gaining practical experience in crafting timber frames.

Our one-week courses provide an authentic timber framing experience. We build a full 16 x 20 foot building, which gives students the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the craft while fostering a sense of accomplishment. In addition to group workshops, Jason also offers private training programs.

Jason Gibson, founder of the Canadian School of Timber Framing brings over 25 years of experience in timber framing to his hands-on workshops. With a passion for preserving the art of traditional timber frame construction, Jason has spent decades building, restoring, and repairing timber frame structures across Eastern Ontario.
Through his work, Jason shares his knowledge and commitment to craftsmanship, inspiring others to appreciate and carry on this timeless building tradition.
